This Memorial Day in Middleborough, State Representative John Gaskey walked the parade route, handing out American flags and pins to children as he joined the community in remembering those who gave their lives for our country. His presence was heartfelt and genuine.
“For me, Memorial Day is more than just about remembrance, it’s about recognizing courage. Bravery is defined as being fearless, but courage it comes from controlling fear and doing what’s needed,” Gaskey said. The words reflected a deep, personal understanding rooted in his own experience as a service member.
Throughout the morning, Gaskey took time to thank fellow veterans, greet families, and connect with those honoring lost loved ones. His actions spoke as clearly as his words, offering a quiet tribute to the meaning behind the holiday.
As the parade came to a close, the flags in children’s hands fluttered with pride reminders of the courage, sacrifice, and unity that Memorial Day calls us all to remember.
