New Bedford, MA — June 14, 2025, Tensions rose Saturday afternoon during a “No Kings” protest in downtown New Bedford when Christopher Thibeault, Chair of the New England Conservative Coalition, was confronted by protesters.

Thibeault reported that during the event, one individual approached him closely, asked questions including “Who are you with?” and “Why are you taking their picture?” and used an umbrella to block his view. Thibeault described the interaction as aggressive and said the individual spoke to him in a hostile tone.
“It was a tense moment,” Thibeault said. “The individual came very close and asked pointed questions. I felt the situation was intended to discourage me from documenting the event.”
The “No Kings” movement, which voices opposition to political elitism and government overreach, has attracted both supporters and critics throughout Massachusetts. Saturday’s confrontation in New Bedford highlights the heightened emotions surrounding recent protests.
