THINGS GET HOSTILE: ‘No Kings’ Protesters Harass Chair of New England Conservative Coalition

Thibeault reported that during the event, one individual approached him closely, asked questions including “Who are you with?” and “Why are you taking their picture?” and used an umbrella to block his view. Thibeault described the interaction as aggressive and said the individual spoke to him in a hostile tone.


“It was a tense moment,” Thibeault said. “The individual came very close and asked pointed questions. I felt the situation was intended to discourage me from documenting the event.”


The “No Kings” movement, which voices opposition to political elitism and government overreach, has attracted both supporters and critics throughout Massachusetts. Saturday’s confrontation in New Bedford highlights the heightened emotions surrounding recent protests.


Thibeault emphasized the importance of peaceful protest and respectful dialogue. “Everyone has a right to express their views, but it’s crucial to maintain civility and allow open observation.”


The incident has drawn attention on social media, with differing opinions on the events. Some see the protesters’ actions as passionate activism, while others view them as confrontational.
